Legend Yuvraj Singh mentors Rishabh Pant’s IPL preparation

Rishabh Pant is working in tandem with Yuvraj Singh as part of his preparation for IPL 2026. The two spent about four days at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, holding batting sessions during both day and night while trying out an assortment of white-ball shots.

Yuvraj, a white ball legend of Indian cricket, has carve a niche as a successful mentor, having supervised Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill and Prabhsimran Singh among others. Abhishek, in particular, has developed into one of the hottest commodities in T20 cricket, with Yuvraj widely credited for his meteoric growth. It is important to note that Pant has not played for India in shorter formats since August 2024, and the alliance seems to be aimed at rejuvenating his white-ball career.

Following the departure of KL Rahul from Lucknow Super Giants, Rishabh Pant was signed as a replacement for a whooping 27 crores, an ultra-aggressive bid for a marquee face that the franchise was looking for. On comeback trail from a life-threatening accident, the kind of season the keeper-bat had did little to justify the price tag though. He scored 269 runs in 13 innings at a strike rate of 133.16, failing to usher his side into the playoffs.

Pride was somewhat salvaged with an explosive 118 in the last league match of IPL 2025, but the swashbuckling southpaw is under pressure to deliver the goods for the team owned by Sanjiv Goenka. After the stint with Yuvraj, Pant left for Chennai where Lucknow Super Giants have come together to gird up their loins ahead of the season.
