Suryakumar Yadav set to miss Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2024 campaign opener

Suryakumar Yadav has suffered a minor setback as the National Cricket Academy, situated in Bangalore, has not cleared the star right-hander to participate in the upcoming Indian Premier League. As a result, Suryakumar is likely to be unavailable for the opening game of the season. Mumbai Indians open their campaign by taking on Gujarat Titans on March 24 in Ahmedabad.

The Mumbai Indians camp believes that he may join the squad sooner rather than later. Their second game – against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad – is three days after the first, and there is optimism among the contingent that he could be available for that match.

The magnitude of this setback for Suryakumar, who led India in a Twenty20 series in South Africa in December before undergoing ankle surgery, can be understood from his social media post on Tuesday, where he shared a heartbreak emoji expressing his disappointment at missing out on the foremost clash.
