Josh Inglis takes a worldie of a catch diving to his left

A classic catch from Josh Inglis behind the wicket removed Victoria opener Marcus Harris in the Sheffield Shield.

Australian great Ricky Ponting believes the wicket-keeper is knocking down the door for Test selection after an attention-grabbing performance for Western Australia in their Sheffield Shield win over Queensland. Inglis has been in fine form this summer and after some noteworthy ODI and T20 performances for Australia. Ponting believes he has put forward a strong case to replace Alex Carey in Test cricket as well.

In his first game in the Shield for almost 12 months, Inglis received the Player of the Match award after scoring 47 and 136 not out in Western Australia’s 146-run win. Inglis’ red-ball audition coincided with Carey failing to fire for Australia against New Zealand, with scores of just 10 and 3. However, Carey gave a better account of himself at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch, scoring 98 to see Australia home in a tense chase.
