Marvel at Usman Khan’s dazzling 50-ball century

Usman Khan’s unbeaten 50-ball 100 was to no avail as Islamabad United secured a last-ball win over Multan Sultans in the high-scoring affair at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to book a place in the playoffs. With seven runs required off the last two balls, Imad Wasim clobbered a six and a boundary to help the hosts over the line in the 229-run chase.

Even as Islamabad’s below-par effort in the field continued, with Hunain Shah dropping another catch, a couple of fine overs in the death by Naseeem Shah limited the damage and kept Sultans to 228/4. Islamabad were put on the back foot early in the chase but managed to recover via the top-order wobble to take the score past 200. However, it proved too steep a climb in the end.

Brief Scores: Multan Sultans 228/4 in 20 overs (Usman Khan 100*, Johnson Charles 42; Faheem Ashraf 2-32) lost to Islamabad United 232/7 in 20 overs (Colin Munro 84, Shadab Khan 54; Abbas Afridi 3-40, Mohammad Ali 2-44) by 3 wickets.
