Ben Stokes cleans up Rohit Sharma immediately on bowling comeback

India captain Rohit Sharma was knocked over on Day 2 of the Dharamsala Test by his counterpart Ben Stokes. The England captain, who had been playing as a specialist batter throughout the series due to his knee surgery, came to bowl for the first time after lunch. Stokes bowled an excellent away-decker to Rohit and uprooted his off stump.

Sharma had looked in sublime touch throughout his innings, notching up his century b punishing Mark Wood and Shoaib Bashir in the morning session of the second day. As England appeared devoid of ideas at the break, Stokes brought himself into the attack. He struck right away, nipping the ball away after pitching it on the off stump line. The ball did enough to throw Sharma’s balance off-kilter and expose his off stump, which the ball crashed into.

Stokes went under the knife right after the ODI World Cup 2023 and was racing against the clock to get fit for the India Test series.
