India withdraw appeal after Shami runs out Shanaka at non-striker’s end

With the result a foregone conclusion in the the first one-day international between India and Sri Lanka in Guwahati, India decided to withdraw their run-out appeal at the non striker’s end to reprieve Dasun Shanaka on 98. Tantalizingly close to three figures, Shanaka was eager to get to the striker’s end and left the crease early as Shami struck the bails off. However, Rohit Sharma had a chat with the bowler and decided to take the appeal back. If the appeal stayed, Shanaka would have been adjudged out as he was outside his crease.
