Sanju Samson has been ruled out of the remaining two T20Is against Sri Lanka after hurting his left knee while fielding during the first game in Mumbai. The wicketkeeper-batter did not travel with the Indian team to Pune, staying back in Mumbai for scans and expert advice, and was advised rest and rehabilitation.
The injury is a result of a diving catch he attempted during the first over of the Sri Lankan chase at the Wankhede in Mumbai. Although he caught the ball it bobbed out of his hands after his elbows hit the ground. He continued fielding in the match but he later experienced swelling on his knee.
NEWS – Sanju Samson ruled out of the remainder of T20I series.
The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Jitesh Sharma as replacement for Sanju Samson.
