Sydney Thunder defeated Hobart Hurricanes by a fat margin of 62 runs in a Big Bash League encounter at the Lavington Oval in Albury. After being put into bat, Sydney Thunder rode on half-centuries from Alex Hales (77) and Ollie Davies (65) to post a formidable total of 228/6. In reply, the Hurricanes could only manage 166, despite Matthew Wade’s quickfire 67, with Brendan Doggett delivering the goods with the ball. He also took a sharp return catch to dismiss Nathan Ellis, who himself took a wicket off his first ball.
