New Zealand come back to the SCG, where they’ve had some encouraging results in this T20 World Cup. They stunned hosts Australia on the opening night of Super 12s and save for their defeat against England, they were always primed to grab a spot in the semi-finals.
Their opponents Pakistan, on the other hand, have had quite a turnaround and a bit of good fortune. They lost to India in a nail-biter in their tournament opener and then to Zimbabwe by the barest of margins. From there on, every game was a knockout and they managed to win to do their bit. South Africa shockingly lost to Netherlands, giving Babar Azam and his troops a backfoor entry and they made hay, beating Bangladesh to seal their semis spot.
