Odean Smith’s all-round show went down the drain as West Indies’ batting faltered once again. Chasing 186, West Indies fell 13 runs short of in the T20I series opener in Jamaica.

For New Zealand, returning skipper Kane Williamson scored a solid 47 off 33 while Devon Conway chipped in with a 29-ball 43. The pair gave New Zealand a strong foundation to pile on the runs. Jimmy Neesham’s 15-ball 33 in the end propelled the Kiwis towards the finish they wanted. Odean Smith returned a career-best 3-32, striking at crucial junctures to send New Zealand’s top three packing.
