After days of keen anticipation, England all-rounder Will Jacks has arrived in India. He was seen training with fellow Mumbai Indians players at the Wankhede stadium ahead of their crucial fixture against Chennai Super Kings on Thursday. His arrival is a shot in the arm for Mumbai Indians, who now seem to be back on track after a dodgy start.
As a pinch-hitting middle-order bat and a quality spinner, he strengthens both Mumbai Indians’ batting and bowling although the five-time champions already have good overseas spinners in Allah Ghazanfar and Mitchell Santner. He was a standout performer for England in the recent World Cup, where they lost to hosts India in the semi-final, earning four Player-of-the-Match awards.
The 27-year-old Jacks also gives Mumbai Indians the option of opening, should the powerhouses fancy bringing in a new ally for Quinton de Kock. He has opened once for the franchise in the past, although of late he walks out to the middle after the team is four of five wickets down.
