West Indies head coach Phil Simmons opines that the batters have failed to deliver the goods as the two-time champions were knocked out of the T20 World Cup by Ireland on Thursday in Hobart. West Indies opted to bat first in a must-win Super 12 clash in the hope of putting scoreboard pressure on Ireland, but sucummbed to a stranglehold and could only push up to 146/5 in 20 overs, despite hoarding 34 runs in the last three overs. Simmons reckoned the team had not been consistent with the bat even before the showpiece event commenced in Australia.
