(Photo) On World Photography Day, gaze at cricket’s most iconic snap

Patrick Eagar, the doyen of cricket photography, has a remarkable body of work. The senior shutterbug plied his trade at 325 Tests, including 98 Ashes Tests, between 1965 and 2011. His lens captured Andrew Strauss in full flight, defying the laws of gravity, as he sticks his left hand out to send Adam Gilchrist packing. It is a dynamically beautiful picture circulated and adored by cricket fans across the globe. On World Photography Day, a revisit makes for a fitting ode to the creative genius behind the camera.
