Jimmy Anderson’s battle with Virat Kohli is a well-storied contest, but the confrontation became more personal on Sunday at Lord’s. Anderson – no doubt still put out by Jasprit Bumrah’s no-ball-riddled, short-pitched assault on the Saturday evening previous – was volleying some abuse at Cheteshwar Pujara, who was consuming dots like a certain video game franchise, as well as Kohli at the non-strikers end. Kohli can be heard saying “this isn’t your backyard” after Anderson allegedly used some colourful language towards him. The Indian captain included some choice vocabulary of his own in his reply.
