England skipper Joe Root has usurped his Indian counterpart, Virat Kohli, in the latest ICC men’s Test rankings. Root was the torchbearer of his team’s resistance with the bat in the series opener against India, weaving a fluent 64 in the first essay to go along with a sublime ton in the second innings. He ranks fourth in the updated list, 55 rating points ahead of Kohli.

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah has galloped an impressive ten slots to return to the top 10 for bowlers with a fabulous match haul of nine for 110.
