(Video) Superstition bears fruit as Stuart Broad and his headband make the breakthrough

Stuart Broad reverted to type in both his look and his bowling as, having gone wicketless in the first innings without it, he donned the Karate-Kid headband that brought such success in the summer of 2020. The accessory was hugely popular amongst England’s cricketers last year to tame their overgrown post-lockdown locks, and accompanied a landmark few months for Broad.

The wicket itself was hugely important, sending the obdurate and equally classy KL Rahul on his way with a length ball that nipped just enough off the seam to find the opener’s outside edge. India look the better poised to gain victory on day 5, should the weather oblige, but England will be delighted to see the back of Rahul after his excellent 84 first up.
