Luke Wood is an exciting talent, capable of whipping up some serious pace and tailing the ball into right-handers with a hint of malice. Welsh Fire’s Ian Cockbain fancied the prospect of bulldozing Wood down the ground, only to be proved miserably wrong.
Trent Rockets’ Wood kept it menacingly full and straight as the 88mph shooter torpedoed into the off-stump, leaving Ian with a personal score of 16 and a harsh reality check to boot. He gave away just 19 runs in his three overs as his penny-pinching exploits orchestrated Rockets’ ascend to the top of the table.
