Getting a strangle down the leg is considered the most unlucky mode of dismissal in cricket. Batsmen try and glance the ball to fine-leg for a four but end up playing it too fine and into the wicketkeeper’s mitts.
Dan Lawrence fell prey to the aforementioned dismissal as he brushed a ball straying onto his pads off Mohammed Shami, who had also accounted for Jonny Bairstow and Dominic Sibley earlier. Lawrence returned without lending the slightest of trouble to the scorers as England lost half their side for just 138.
