(Video) Rory Burns falls to Jasprit Bumrah’s class as Test series begins in familiar fashion

Having won the toss and elected to bat, England began in the worst possible way as Rory Burns fell to Jasprit Bumrah in the first over to leave his side 0-1. It was brilliant bowling by the now dependable Bumrah, who fired one back into Burns’s pads having angled the previous delivery away from the left-hander’s bat.

With a line-up short of recent first-class experience and, frankly, bereft of international runs, Burns’s dismissal gives India an early chance to make significant inroads. The sight of an England opener trudging back to the shed at a little past eleven of an August morning is by no means a new one, with perhaps the only surprise being that it wasn’t the more out of nick Dom Sibley rather than Burns, who made 132 against New Zealand in June.
