(Video) Two years on from Rory Burns’s maiden Test century

It is two years ago to the day that Rory Burns hit his maiden Test century for England, a dogged 133 against Australia at Edgbaston that summed up the Surrey opener’s inherent grit.

Burns has by no means had an untroubled time of it since, averaging 33.2 in 25 Tests, but has provided England with a semblance of stability at the top of the order that has proved so elusive since the retirement of Sir Alastair Cook.

As the India series approaches, Burns – if selected – will be one of England’s batting line-up handed the responsibility of stepping up to support the captain Joe Root and push that average in a direction that better reflects his talent.
