Ben Stokes adjudged ICC Men’s Test Player of the Year 2022

England Test captain Ben Stokes has been named Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year for the year 2022. In tandem with head coach Brendon McCullum, Stokes transformed England’s Test fortunes via a hyper-aggressive brand of cricket.

It is the first time Stokes has bagged the men’s Test award and he is the third England player to earn the recognition after his two predecessors as captain – Alastair Cook in 2011 and Joe Root in 2021. Stokes previously won the overall Men’s Cricketer of the Year award in 2019.

The Durham all-rounder scored 870 runs at an average of 36.25 and took 26 wickets at an average of 31.19 during the year but it was his leadership that made the biggest impact on England’s performances.
