The atmosphere was replete with intensity as the Indian batsmen hit the nets ahead of the much-awaited England series. Skipper Virat Kohli, his deputy Ajinkya Rahane, middle-order rock Cheteshwar Pujara and other key members of the batting unit could be seen grinding it out in a slew of ebullient pictures shared by BCCI on Twitter.

Rishabh Pant, who recently joined the team after recovering from Covid-19, put himself through the paces as well. Having scored a morale-boosting ton in the warm-up game, KL Rahul looked in fine fettle, too, as he held his pose after executing a neat square cut. The high-profile series kicks off on August 4, with Trent Bridge set to host the opening Test.
