Hardik Pandya adjudged bowled despite ball passing over stumps

To guide India to a commanding position from 175-4 in the 29th over, a good partnership was the need of the hour before the final blast. Hardik Pandya (28) stayed put, allowing Shubman Gill to score his hundred and helping add 74 for the fifth wicket.

The score read 249-4 after 39.3 overs when Daryl Mitchell came up against Pandya. The ball was on off-stump, Pandya went down on his back knee in an attempt to steer it down to third man, and a bail came off. Replays showed the ball had passed over the stumps, and the bail has been displaced by Tom Latham’s gloves. Yet, to everyone’s amazement, Pandya was ruled out bowled.
