(Video) Hundred explodes into life as Ben Stokes drop sparks Rockets comeback

The Trent Rockets beat the Northern Superchargers in an extraordinary men’s Hundred match. It was all sparked by a bizarre period in which Ben Stokes demanded a dead ball be called after a streaker interrupted play as the Superchargers ran a single. On the ensuing re-bowled delivery, Alex Hales hit the ball straight down Stokes’s throat at long off, and the all-rounder left fans stunned as he fumbled it over the rope for six.

Hales played an uncharacteristically reserved knock up until the final ten balls, eventually winning the game with a six over square leg and finishing on 40 not out off 34 deliveries. The atmosphere at Trent Bridge needed no artificial hysteria from the commentators, as the competition hosted arguably its most enthralling contest so far. Mark this as the day the Hundred burst onto the scene, mark it as the day Ben Stokes finally dropped the ball.
