Adil Rashid dismissed Joe Root for a golden duck as the England Test captain chipped a dipping delivery straight back to the in-form leg-spinner. It was another enthralling yet incredibly short-lived contest, as the Yorkshire teammates and two of England’s best over the various formats had a rare outing as opponents.
With Ben Stokes also failing with bat in hand during the Hundred contest between the Rockets and the Superchargers, fans of the England Test team will no doubt be wondering if this is the ideal preparation ahead of a five-match series with India that begins on the 4th of August. Should England struggle with the red ball over the next month or so, the Hundred will have to field some significant blame from the traditionalists.
