Temba Bavuma picks up length in a flash to hammer six

The fall of South Africa’s third wicket brought Temba Bavuma and Khaya Zondo together and the duo shared a 48-run stand – the only bright spot in an otherwise forgettable day for the visitors. Both batters picked up with alacrity the lengths that Nathan Lyon bowled and helped themselves to a pair of pulled sixes each against the experienced offspinner.

As a consequence, Pat Cummins brought back Josh Hazlewood into the attack after the Tea interval and saw his fast bowling partner generate reverse swing with a 35-over-old cherry. Bavuma offered an edge and South Africa’s resistance was thwarted once more.
