Michael Neser’s boundary-rope catch triggers legitimacy debate

Michael Neser took a contentious catch during the run-fest that was the Big Bash League encounter between Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers, which the latter lost by 15 runs. Neser’s game-changing effort came in the penultimate over of the Sixers’ massive 225-run chase as Jordan Silk was dismissed for 41 off 24 deliveries.

Silk was going great guns in the middle and had already hit three fours and two sixes. The catch if shelled would have resulted in another maximum, but Neser’s juggling act brought an end to the fireworks. Silk was suggestive that the catch shouldn’t be deemed legitimate, but the umpires thought otherwise. Going by the rule book, they adjudged Silk out.
