Australia’s national selection panel has added Ashton Agar and Matt Renshaw to the squad for the Sydney Test against South Africa commencing on January 4. Reinforcements were the need of the hour after both Mitchell Starc and Cameron Green were ruled out with finger injuries sustained during Australia’s series-seizing win in Melbourne.
Agar’s inclusion is worth noting in the context of the upcoming high-profile four-Test series against and in India, where Australia are likely to partner Nathan Lyon with a second spinner.
