Fading light scuppers New Zealand’s victory bid

The first Test ended in a draw as poor light spoilt New Zealand’s victory bid after a late declaration by Pakistan set the Kiwis in hot pursuit of a target of 138 in 15 overs. New Zealand played in limited-overs mode to knock 61 off the total in 7.3 overs before the light proved a buzzkill.

Tom Latham and Devon Conway swept and lofted their way to a quickfire 57-run stand, before the umpires called the game off with Pakistan operating with their pacers. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was adjudged the man of the match for his double ton.
