Melbourne Renegades captain Nic Maddinson was left bemused midway through the ninth over, as he found that one of the zing bails had fallen on its own after he middled a pull shot behind square leg off the bowling of Brisbane Heat quick Mark Steketee, Maddinson turned around to see the stumps lit up and one bail lying on the turf.
A stunned Maddinson began trudging off the park before replays showed the batter's feet and bat — as well as the ball itself — had not made any contact with the stumps when he played the shot. Instead, the bail had mysteriously fallen without any intervention.
What on earth???
