India stamped their authority in the first Test thanks to a solid performance with the ball that saw them take as many as eight wickets after racking up 404 with the bat, with Kuldeep Yadav being instrumental in both suits. The visitors’ bowling attack gave Bangladesh no respite whatsoever on a pitch that was show a tendency to keep low, as well as grip. Earlier, the valuable 92-run stand between R Ashwin and Kuldeep helped India post a formidable 404 after Shreyas Iyer and Cheteshwar Pujara fell short of centuries.
