Lyon, Smith entwine to equal record held by Warne and Taylor

By pouching West Indian left-hander Kyle Mayers’ nick early on the final day of the opening Test between Australia and West Indies at Perth Stadium last Sunday, Steve Smith claimed his 51st catch from the bowling of off-spinner Nathan Lyon. That equals the record for the dismissals brought about by a fielder-bowler combination in Australia’s men’s Test history. Prior to last weekend, the holders were Mark Taylor and the late Shane Warne with 51 catches. Lyon said in the press conference that Smith offers him great insight from the cordon.
