Ben Stokes has termed the hard-fought 74-run victory in Rawalpindi as “one of England’s greatest away wins.” The victory was down to the intent and imagination of England, who found a way to pick 20 wickets on an unresponsive pitch. Problem began for the visitors even before they took the field as a virus rocked the dressing room, leaving them scrabbling to put together an eleven. But once on the field, England didn’t show any signs of lethargy. They won a good toss and racked up runs at a fair clip in both innings before an aggressive declaration from Stokes on Day 4 set the game up tantalizingly.
