Mignon du Preez strokes a fluent half-century

Mignon du Preez’s stellar run continued as she compiled another half-century to lay the platform for Hobart Hurricanes’ facile 8-run win over Melbourne Stars. The result saw Hurricanes move to the third spot on the points table and left Stars dwelling at the bottom.

Put in to bat, Hurricanes made a rosy start, especially with du Preez and Nicola Carey putting on a solid 49-run stand for the fourth wicket. However, the lack of a late flourish kept them to 152/7. In response, Stars never got going. Capsey stroked a 26-ball 38 in a 56-run second-wicket stand with Lauren Winfield-Hill. However, the rest of the batters couldn’t offer support as they were eventually restricted to 114 for 6.
