Fresh entrant into the 1000-run club, Mohammed Rizwan leaps to career-best T20I ranking

Mohammed Rizwan has breached the 1000-run milestone in T20I cricket, joining the esteemed club comprising Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Ahmed Shahzad, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik and Umar Akmal. He achieved the feat with an unbeaten 76 in the third and deciding T20I against England.

Rizwan’s purple patch this year has yielded 706 runs in 13 T20Is at an astonishing average of 100.85, thanks largely to six not-outs in there. This shows his immaculate grip on the game as he remains a persistent thorn in the opposition’s flesh.

Moreover, he is the only player to aggregate more than 500 runs in the shortest format in 2021 and holds the distinct record of registering a ton across formats.

The keeper-batsman’s sensational exploits have thrust him up the charts as he jumped to a career-best seventh position in the ICC T20I rankings. Rizwan is now the second-highest ranked Pakistan batsman in the list, only behind captain Babar Azam, who sits only behind David Malan.
