Hayley Matthews unfurled a glorious on-drive off the bowling of Hannah Darlington in the Women’s Big Bash League encounter between Sydney Thunder Women and Melbourne Renegades. She presented a straight bat to send the ball scorching past the mid-on fielder, who didn’t bother chasing the shot as it was hit right out of the screws.
Matthews is currently unbeaten on a run-a-ball 32 as Renegades inch closer to a comfortable win, needing just 16 runs in 47 balls. Three fours and a six have blazed from her willow so far.
