Alex Hales heaves a drag-down for an almighty six

England made a sound start in the 142-run chase against Sri Lanka, courtesy a rampant 75-run opening stand by Alex Hales and Jos Buttler, in only 7.2 overs. Hales was quick to latch on to anything marginally short or full in the slot. However, much like England, even the Sri Lankan bowlers wrestled the advantage with a heap of wickets. Wanindu Hasaranga started the procession by dismissing the openers, while Dhananjaya de Silva and Lahiru Kumara also chipped in with a brace each. However, Ben Stokes’s composed innings steered England home in what turned out to be a tricky chase in the end.
