Defending champions Australia only just managed to survive a late Rashid Khan onslaught to carve out a four-run win on Friday. In the death overs, Rashid Khan showed his batting might to score an unbeaten 23-ball 48 with three fours and four sixes, but he couldn’t get Afghanistan over the line despite taking them tantalizingly close to the finish line as they ended with 164 for seven in their challenging chase. Australian wicketkeeper Matthew Wade later admitted to being under stress as long as Rashid was flexing his muscles in the middle.
Rashid Khan’s explosive 48* from 23 balls against Australia puts the Afghanistan all-rounder among the best strike rates at #T20WorldCup 2022 (min 40 runs).
