We were slow to adapt to changing conditions: Temba Bavuma

In a game that ebbed and flowed, Shadab Khan’s 22-ball 52 and 2/16 turned out to be the difference between Pakistan and South Africa. Speaking after the 33-run loss in the rain-curtailed game, South African skipper Temba Bavuma noted that his team was slow to adapt to the changing conditions.

Initially, during Pakistan’s innings, the occasional delivery seemed to be holding up in the surface. However, with a bit of drizzle around, the ball started to skid off the pitch and batting became comparatively easier. “Conditions changed a little bit with the ball going to skid. I think in terms of our awareness, in terms of adapting to that, we were very slow. We allowed them to get momentum into their innings, and they were able to get a formidable score on the board,” Bavuma lamented.
