Ireland are yet to produce a collective batting effort in the T20 World Cup and against the likes of Mark Wood, Chris Woakes and an in-form Sam Curran, it’s only going to get tougher especially if the MCG offers similar pace and bounce to what we witnessed on Sunday in the India-Pakistan blockbuster. There will also be a lot of eyeballs on Ben Stokes and he would like to get among the runs before the upcoming big games. Stokes’ promotion to No.4 hasn’t paid dividends so far but the sample size is still inadequate. If he does discover his mojo, England are going to look quite formidable going ahead.
