It was a strange game of cricket to put an end to what has been a round of exciting Group A bouts. Netherlands started today as table-toppers, but faced the threat of being shown the exit door after losing against Sri Lanka. But they’ll live to fight on in the Super 12s as Namibia botched up a chase of 149 runs against a so far winless United Arab Emirates.
Namibia were reeling at 67/7 after 13 overs but then David Wiese and Ruben Trumpelmann stitched a record 70-run partnership for the eighth wicket in the T20 World Cup history. Their efforts, however, couldn’t prevent UAE from securing a narrow 7-run win.
