Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis came in defence of teammate Matthew Wade, whose action of obstructing the field during the first T20I against England has been subject to much debate, saying one doesn’t know about the whereabouts of the ball after being hit on the head.
In the three-match series opener, Wade top-edged a short delivery from fast bowler Mark Wood into his helmet that then popped up into the air. Wood ran towards the striker’s end in an attempt to complete what was a simple return catch but was blocked by Wade, who seemed to have outstretched his left hand to interrupt Wood.
