Wade gets away with ‘obstructing the field’ dismissal as England hold back appeal

Jos Buttler (68) and Alex Hales (84) stitched a scintillating opening stand while Mark Wood produced heat with the ball as England beat Australia in a hard-fought T20I at the Perth stadium by eight runs. Despite a quickfire 73 from David Warner, Australia could muster 200 for 9 in a tall chase of 209.

In the 17th over bowled by Wood, a controversial moment transpired as Matthew Wade top-edged a pull, with the quick attempting a return catch. At that juncture, Wade outstreched his left-arm and Wood couldn’t complete the catch, but England, amusingly, didn’t appeal for obstructing the field and the southpaw got away.
