The trend of ball dominating the bat has continued on the fourth day as South Africa lost wickets in a cluster once the 58-run opening partnership between Sarel Erwee and Dean Elgar was broken. While Erwee nicked to Joe Root in the slips, Elgar was the 564th wicket of Stuart Broad in Test cricket as he usurped the legendary Australian Glenn McGrath on the all-time list.
Keegan Petersen, Ryan Rickleton and Wiaan Mulder could not contribute to South Africa’s cause much as England shot the visitors down to 120/5. Earlier, England could only eke out a 40-run lead as the Proteas’ pace attack snuffed out the tail in short order on Day 4.
