England squander two reviews in the bid for a breakthrough

South Africa wasted little time in cleaning up England’s tail on Day 4. Kagiso Rabada struck with the second ball to remove Ollie Robinson, while Jack Leach and Ben Faokes couldn’t hang around for long either as England succumbed for 158, managing a lead of 40 that was by no means a match-winning one.

The South African openers have started the second innings cautiously, wiping out the deficit as England wasted two reviews in the bid for a breakthrough. On Day 3, England dominated proceedings but South Africa clawed back into the contest with wickets in the final session to limit the home team’s advantage in what is effectively a three-day encounter.
