Marco Jansen goes through the defence of Alex Lees

England’s left-handed opener Alex Lees scored a couple of threes and a boundary off Kagiso Rabada to get England going while Zak Crawley also struck a four off the pace spearhead. Jansen, however, ended Lees’s stay by having him bowled for 13 and also picked up the wicket of Crawley shortly thereafter. But England’s ultra-positive approach with the bat came to the fore once again as Ollie Pope and Joe Root found the fence regularly. Earlier, South Africa were rolled out for 118.

Brief scores: South Africa 118 (Marco Jansen 30; Ollie Robinson 5-49, Stuart Broad 4-41) lead England 84/2 (Ollie Pope 38*, Joe Root 23*; Marco Jansen 2-19) by 34 runs.
