Half-centurion Alex Carey drags Australia to tense win

Australia had lost their top order cheaply in a manageable 233-run chase when Cameron Green and Alex Carey joined forces to put on a match-defining 158-run stand for the sixth wicket. With pulls, drives, sweeps and the occasional loft, the duo kept the scorecard ticking. The pair also consistently pinched singles in the process. In the 39th over, Green top-edged a pull off Lockie Ferguson but Boult couldn’t cling on to the chance, which in turn proved to be a costly drop. Ultimately, Ferguson got the reward for persisting with the bumpers as he removed Carey for a well-compiled 85.
