One of the most destructive T20 batters going around in world cricket, Alex Hales has made a comeback to the England squad in place of the injured Jonny Bairstow for the men's T20 World Cup next month. Hales, who last donned an England shirt in March 2019, was dropped from all squads in April that year after failing an ECB recreational drug test for the second time.

Hales was part of the provisional squad for the 2019 World Cup that England went on to win the tournament but was subsequently ousted before the competiton kicked off. Hales has since been on a run spree in the T20 circuit, taking his belligerent batting skills at the top of the order to different leagues.
