Joe Root’s dismissal puts South Africa in pole position

Englanbd lynchpin Joe Root is gone in the second innings of the Lord’s Test. He’s been coaxed by Lungi Ngidi into jabbing at a wide ball and he ends up edging it low to Aiden Markram who takes a lovely catch at second slip.

Earlier, Anrich Nortje scored 28* as SA added 37 runs to their overnight total and secured a 161-run lead. Marco Jansen fell two short of his maiden fifty but played a vital knock again this morning. Later in the session, it was Keshav Maharaj who took out Zac Crawley and Ollie Pope with straight balls and put his side right in the driving seat.
