Reduced to 55-4 and then a shambolic 116-6 when bad weather cut short the day’s play after just 32 overs, England had a saving grace in Ollie Pope who remains 61 not out in the first innings of the Lord’s Test. England’s lineup were given a reality check as they were unable to carry out the turbo-charged brand of batting against an attack full of pace and skill that was adamant to back up the claims of their skipper Deal Elgar from the start. For someone learning how to bat at one drop in Test cricket, the young Pope is taking to the challenge with aplomb.
FIFTY for Popey! 👏
